The Grand Opening Ceremony

For the first time in the history of the YMCA Jaffna, the “Sir William Twynam Premier League” (SWTPL) was conducted on the 11th of October 2025 at the J/Canagaratnam M.M.V. Grounds.
The league commenced with a grand opening ceremony graced by the presence of YMCA Board Members, SWTPL Organizing Committee Members, and players. The ceremony began with a prayer by Rev.P.Thevamithran, followed by the hoisting of the YMCA flag by the President, Mr. R. Vinoth, and the SWTPL flag by the Sports Chairman, Mr. T. Vimalraj.
An oil lamp lighting ceremony was then held, with the following persons participating in the lighting of the lamp:

First Match

The first match of the “Sir William Twynam Premier League (SWTPL)” was played between the District Secretariat team and the Alliance Finance team. Both teams performed well and displayed excellent sportsmanship throughout the match.
The Alliance Finance team emerged winners of the match and qualified for the Quarter Finals.

Third Match

The third match featured the Sri Lanka Police – KKS Division Team and the Jaffna Teaching Hospital B Team. The Sri Lanka Police – KKS Division Team emerged victorious and advanced to the next stage of the tournament.

Fourth Match

The fourth match featured the DFCC Bank Team and the YMCA Navaly A Team. The DFCC Bank Team emerged victorious and advanced to the next stage of the tournament.

Fifth Match

The fifth match featured the YMCA Navaly B Team and the Jaffna Municipal Council Team. Jaffna Municipal Council Team emerged victorious and advanced to the next stage of the tournament.

Sixth Match – SWTPL ( Quarter Final )

The sixth match ( Quarter Final ) featured the YMCA Jaffna Team and the Alliance Finance Team. The YMCA Jaffna Team emerged victorious and advanced to the next stage of the tournament.

Seventh Match – SWTPL ( Quarter Final )

The seventh match ( Quarter Final ) featured the Jaffna PHI Union Team and the SLTB Team. The SLTB Team emerged victorious and advanced to the next stage of the tournament.

Eighth Match – SWTPL ( Quarter Final )

The Eighth match ( Quarter Final ) featured the Sri Lanka Police – KKS Division Team and the DFCC Bank Team. The Sri Lanka Police – KKS Division Team Team emerged victorious and advanced to the next stage of the tournament.

Nineth Match – SWTPL ( Quarter Final )

The nineth match ( Quarter Final ) featured the Jaffna Municipal Council Team and the Commercial Bank Team. The Commercial Bank Team emerged victorious and advanced to the next stage of the tournament.

Tenth Match – SWTPL ( Semi Final 1 )

The Semi Final match featured the YMCA Jaffna Team and the SLTB Team. The SLTB Team emerged victorious and advanced to the Final Match of the tournament.

Eleventh Match – SWTPL ( Semi Final 2 )

The Semi Final match featured the Commercial Bank Team and the Sri Lanka Police – KKS Division Team. The Commercial Bank Team emerged victorious and advanced to the Final Match of the tournament.

The Final Match – SWTPL

In the 1st season of “Sir William Twynam Premier League”, SLTB Team Has been emerged as Champions of this League as a result of their fantastic performance which has set the ground on fire.

The Closing Ceremony – SWTPL

The Closing Ceremony of the Sir William Twynam Premier League was held on the evening following the matches. All players who performed exceptionally well were congratulated during the event. The Champion Team and the Runner-up Team were specially honoured on this occasion.
