The Grand Opening Ceremony – SWTPL

For the first time in the history of the YMCA Jaffna, the “Sir William Twynam Premier League” (SWTPL) was conducted on the 11th of October 2025 at the J/Canagaratnam M.M.V. Grounds.
The league commenced with a grand opening ceremony graced by the presence of YMCA Board Members, SWTPL Organizing Committee Members, and players. The ceremony began with a prayer by Rev.P.Thevamithran, followed by the hoisting of the YMCA flag by the President, Mr. R. Vinoth, and the SWTPL flag by the Sports Chairman, Mr. T. Vimalraj.
An oil lamp lighting ceremony was then held, with the following persons participating in the lighting of the lamp:
