Condolences for Late Rt. Rev. Kenneth Fernando

It is with deep sorrow that we learned of the passing away of the former Bishop of Colombo, The Rt. Rev. Kenneth Fernando. On behalf of the YMCA Jaffna, we extend our heartfelt condolences to entire Church of Ceylon.
Bishop Kenneth Fernando was a remarkable servant of God who made an indelible contribution to the life and mission of the Church. His tireless efforts towards church unity through his involvement in the EISD, CCA, and WCC remain a lasting testimony to his vision for Christian fellowship beyond boundaries.
He will also be remembered as a peacemaker, notably through his role as a government-appointed representative in the peace committee of 1994, working with courage and faith towards reconciliation in our land.
Beyond his ecclesiastical leadership, Bishop Fernando was also a writer whose words inspired reflection and action. Together with his beloved wife, who contributed immensely to Christian education, he served the Lord faithfully and left a spiritual legacy that will continue to bless generations.
As Bishop of Colombo from 1992 to 2001, he shepherded the Church with wisdom, humility, and compassion. His passing is a great loss, yet we give thanks to God for his life and ministry.
May the Lord, who called His servant Kenneth Fernando to eternal rest, grant him peace in His heavenly kingdom.
