Talent Search 2025

The Talent Search 2025 was organized by the Talent Search Committee in partnership with YMCA Jaffna, St. John’s College Jaffna, and the Western Music Society of SJC.

This programme, launched in 2016, was initiated with the vision of encouraging music lovers in Jaffna to nurture and showcase their God-given talents in the best possible way. Over the past decade, it has become a celebrated platform for young and aspiring musicians.

Objectives of the Talent Search

To identify and develop musical talent in Jaffna.
To promote Western music in Jaffna.
To encourage the creation and performance of Sri Lankan originals.

Talent Search 2025 – Highlights

Applications Released: May 2025
Auditions: June 2025
Semi-Finals: 14th – 16th August 2025
Finals: 28th – 29th August 2025

The Grand Finale took place on 30th August 2025 at Peto Memorial Hall, St. John’s College Jaffna. Finalists presented their outstanding performances before a lively audience.

The event was graced by Mr. R. Vinoth (President, YMCA Jaffna), Mr. J. R. W. Jeffrey (Vice President, YMCA Jaffna), and Mr. T. Vimalraj (Board Director, YMCA Jaffna). Addressing the gathering, Mr. J. R. W. Jeffrey highlighted the objectives and lasting benefits of the Talent Search programme, emphasizing it’s role in inspiring the younger generation to pursue their passion for music.

In connection with Talent Search 2025, a souvenir book was also published.
